The Internet Society’s (ISOC) new Online Trust and Safety Hub now directs people to NetBeacon Reporter to report DNS Abuse. To facilitate centralized global reporting, NetBeacon Reporter is now available in seven languages: English, Spanish, French, Brazilian Portuguese, Turkish, Arabic, and Simplified Chinese, aligned with the languages used by the OTS Hub.
The Reporting Gap
Many people who encounter phishing or a fraudulent website do not know how or where to submit reports. Abuse reports are most effective when they are directed to the right party and supported by clear evidence. Most members of the public cannot be expected to know who those parties are or what evidence they require. Language barriers can further complicate this process.
The Online Trust and Safety Hub
ISOC launched the Online Trust and Safety Hub in September 2026. The Hub is a free, plain-language resource designed to help everyone stay safe online, regardless of technical expertise. Learn to recognise and respond to scams, spot and stop false information, and protect your privacy.
The Hub’s guidance on responding to scams points users to NetBeacon Reporter for scams involving a website. NetBeacon Reporter is free to use and accepts reports of phishing, malware, botnets, spam, and scam websites. Reports are enriched with supporting evidence and routed to the registrar, registry, or hosting provider for action.
Reporting in Additional Languages
NetBeacon Reporter users can now select their preferred language in account settings. This applies to both sides of the reporting process. Reporters can complete reports in the language they use, and registrars, registries, and hosts can view NetBeacon Reporter’s standard text in their own preferred language. This first phase covers the web interface. Translation of free text within individual reports is planned for a later phase.
Much of the data used to measure DNS Abuse is weighted towards English-language content and widely recognised brands. Extending reporting to more languages and communities improves the likelihood that abuse outside those sources is identified, reported, and mitigated.
We want to hear from you!
We are seeking feedback from speakers of each supported language on the clarity and accuracy of the translations. Do you notice a word or phrase that isn’t quite right? Let us know! Feedback can be sent to support@netbeacon.org.
Next steps
NetBeacon Institute will continue to work with ISOC on closer integration of NetBeacon Reporter within the Hub, for example an embedded reporting option, and will weigh additional languages based on demand.
